Festival International New Drama
The Festival of International New Drama (FIND) has been a stalwart of the Schaubühne's repertoire since the 1999/2000 season. In the early years, dramatic texts from predominantly young writers from one particular culture or region were presented, mostly in rehearsed readings. In 2011, F.I.N.D. reinvented itself as a large scale festival for visiting productions. Since then, more and more works from international writer-theatremakers and their companies have been shown for the first time in Berlin.
The F.I.N.D.plus workshop programme brings together acting, directing and dramaturgy students from Germany, France and a new third country each year. The participants meet the festival´s theatre makers and attend masterclasses with renowned directors, playwrights and theatre makers.
FIND in the repertoire
From the international collaboration with playwrights, directors and actors within the framework of F.I.N.D emerged the projects and productions, which constitute the focus of the Schaubühne repertoire. The discoveries of the festivals and work on new plays have led to countless world- and German-language premieres in past seasons.
Currently, five productions first presented at F.I.N.D. are part of our repertoire: I’d rather Goya robbed me of sleep than some arsehole by Rodrigo García and Third Generation by Yael Ronen.
