Werner Eng

Born in Brasil in 1967. Has been a member of the Schaubühne ensemble since the 2017/18 season. He studied acting and directing at the Novalis School for Speech Art and Dramatic Arts Stuttgart. First engagements at the Novalis Bühne Stuttgart, Theater St. Pölten and Junges Theater Göttingen. In 1995 he was awarded the Youngster of Arts Europe. Since 2001 engagements in Basel, Wien, Graz, Zürich, Magdeburg, Dessau and in Berlin at the Maxim Gorki Theater and the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. He worked with directors such as Sebastian Hartmann, Lukas Langhoff, Sebastian Baumgarten. Under the direction of Herbert Fritsch he performed at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, including »The Spanish Fly« by Franz Arnold and Ernst Bach (2011), »Murmel Murmel« after Dieter Roth (2012), »Frau Luna« by Paul Lincke (2013), »Ohne Titel Nr. 1 – Eine Oper von Herbert Fritsch« (2014), »der die mann« after Konrad Bayer (2015) and »Pfusch« by Herbert Fritsch (2016). 2006 member of the ensemble of the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam. In 2011 he debuted as a director with »Pension Schöller« by Carl Laufs and Wilhelm Jacoby at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau. In 2016 he performed in Henry Purcell’s »King Arthur« (Direction: Herbert Fritsch) at the Opernhaus Zürich. Various film appearances, including »Elf Onkel« (Direction: Herbert Fritsch, 2010) as well as »Vodopad – Vom Lauschen und Rauschen« (2009), »Korridor Nr. 50« (2015) and Dominus dixit (2016) under the direction of Evy Schubert.
