It's capitalism, stupid!

We no longer live in an era of neo-liberalism. Faith in the market place has proved, in fact, to be a reliance on a political technology with hidden costs. Now is not the time to reduce the market, but to reinvent the economy. One has to clarify the role of money, scrutinise the forms of initiative and reflect on the character of growth, because in the end every economy is a political economy.
Heinz Bude from the Hamburg Institute for Social Research discusses the political economy with his guests over four nights.

Regimes of Passion (2011/2012)

Beyond the confines of Carl Schmitt's thinking the question of the political raises itself again. The most common answers, with their emphasis on legitimation through procedure or standardisation through justice, cause the thing to disappear. Where politics is concerned, what is hidden is what should really intrigue.
