Die Verfolgung und Ermordung Jean Paul Marats dargestellt durch die Schauspielgruppe des Hospizes zu Charenton unter Anleitung des Herrn de Sade

Zwei revolutionäre Denker, wie sie unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten. Jean Paul Marat, führender Kopf der französischen Revolution und unerbittlicher Kämpfer für absolute Gleichheit unter den Menschen. Und Marquis de Sade, Zyniker, dem die menschliche Natur von Grund auf schlecht erscheint. Statt an Vernunft und Fortschritt glaubt er an radikalen Individualismus, an Lust, Grausamkeit und Sexualität – und lebt ihre Schattenseiten vor. Im Hintergrund das empörte Volk, das im Kampf für Veränderung zu allem bereit ist. Schauplatz ihres Schlagabtausches: eine Theaterinszenierung mit den Insassen der Heilanstalt Charenton. Die dort Internierten – Geisteskranke oder politische Querdenker – spielen die Ermordung des Revolutionsführers Marat in der Badewanne durch die Landadlige Charlotte Corday nach. Regie führt Marquis de Sade, der wegen pornographischer Äußerungen einsitzt. Revolution und Raserei; Weltanschauungs-Duell und Showeinlagen; Inszenierung und Irren-Anstalt – Peter Weiss’ Drama ist geschichtsphilosophische Reflexion und wahnwitziges Theaterspektakel zugleich. Nach seiner Berliner Uraufführung 1964 wurde das Stück schlagartig weltweit bekannt. Peter Kleinert inszeniert das Stück mit Studierenden der Hochschule für Schauspielkunst »Ernst Busch« und Schauspielern aus dem Ensemble der Schaubühne – und wirft mit seinem jungen Ensemble Fragen nach der Möglichkeit heutiger Revolution, politischer Veränderung und Utopie auf.
