Schatten (Eurydike sagt)

Eurydike kehrt aus dem Reich des Todes zurück ins Leben. Orpheus, der gefeierte Sänger, führt sie zurück durch Tunnel, über düstere Korridore, dunkle Aufzugschächte hinauf und fährt sie durch endlose, leere unterirdische Straßen. Während ihrer Reise erinnert sie sich, wie sie zu Lebzeiten als Autorin stets im Schatten ihres Geliebten Orpheus stand, in einer Gesellschaft, die für sie keinen eigenständigen Platz vorgesehen hatte. Je näher sie dem Ende ihrer Reise kommt, desto klarer wird sie sich über die Tatsache, dass ihr die schattenhafte Nicht-Existenz im Jenseits viel lieber ist, als ein fremdbestimmtes Leben im Körper einer Frau.

Elfriede Jelinek setzt in »Schatten (Eurydike sagt)« ihre Beschäftigung mit weiblichen Mythen aus feministischer Perspektive fort. Zum ersten Mal inszeniert die britische Regisseurin Katie Mitchell, die regelmäßig an der Schaubühne arbeitet, einen Text der mit dem Literatur-Nobelpreis ausgezeichneten österreichischen Autorin. Zusammen mit einem Ensemble aus Schauspielerinnen und Schauspielern, Kamerafrauen und Sounddesignern erfindet sie in ihrer Inszenierung mit Live-Video auf der Bühne Bilder und akustische Räume für Eurydikes unfreiwillige Reise aus dem Reich der Schatten zurück in die patriarchale Zivilisation.
