PROSPERO Annual Event 2026
As a founding member of Prospero, Schaubühne is delighted to host the 2026 Annual Event. We look forward to four days of dialogue, exchange, and reflection on theatre together with the invited Prospero NEW partners, three new members of the platform, and a new wave of emerging artists selected by the 19 partners. The programme also includes a group of students and young theatre makers taking part in the mentoring scheme, featuring a directing and adaptation workshop led by James Yeatman (Kandinsky), as well as talks with Schaubühne staff members Lisa-Marie Hobusch (Sustainability) and Nils Haarmann (Dramaturgy).
Emerging artists will have the opportunity to pitch their projects to representatives of the platform’s member institutions, including artistic directors and international programmers—an invaluable moment to gain visibility and foster future collaborations across Europe. In working sessions, platform partners will discuss future network activities.
In addition to the working and pitching sessions as well as the mentoring program, artists, partners, and mentees will attend a selection of new productions from the Schaubühne repertoire with English surtitles and have time to meet and talk during a welcome reception as well as lunch and coffee breaks. We look forward to welcoming you!
Programme
Four days shaped by dialogue, artistic sharing, and collective reflection. Each component of the Prospero NEW Annual Event 2026 in Berlin is designed around moments of exchange, encounter, and conviviality. Prospero NEW partners and artists are invited to take part in working sessions, pitching formats, and shared theatre experiences, while engaging with the Schaubühne’s programme and artistic environment.
Please note that participants will each follow a slightly different pathway across the event, depending on their role and schedule. Finally, several meetings and working moments will bring together network memembers only, while other sessions will include the artists involved, to foster both internal alignment and meaningful dialogue across the wider PROSPERO NEW Community. All performances from 12–14 February will be shown with English surtitles.

Pitching Sessions: A space for encounter, dialoque and shared perspective
The pitching sessions are a key moment of the Prospero NEW Annual Event. Designed as a speed–dating–style format, they bring together selected artists ans small groups of international professionals in a focused, welcoming setting.
Artists will present their project several times during the event, each time to a group of 4–5 professionals from the Prospero network. Each encounter follows a clear rhythm: 4 minutes of presentation, followed by 4 minutes of questions and exchange.
This intentionally concise format encourages clarity and precision, while leaving space for dialogue, curiosity, and resonance. For artists, it is an opportunity to create a first international connection, to clarify their artistic approach, and to see how their work is perceived beyond their usual context. For professionals, it offers time to discover emerging voices, ask questions, and engage in direct conversation with artists.
Importantly, pitching within Prospero is not a competition and not an evaluative exercise. It is a col- lective moment of listening and exchange, where the question time is as valuable as the presentation itself. Above all, it is a way to build community during the Annual Event through encounters, dialogue, and shared perspectives across Europe.
