Second Half of the Season 2025/26

The programme with a preview of all upcoming productions until the end of the season and of our annual festival Festival of International New Drama (FIND) is now available to read online here. You can also pick up a copy at the theatre from the end of the month.

The German premiere of Marius von Mayenburg’s new play »Egal«, makes the start. In this production, he asks how serious we really are about equality and what price we are paying privately for the failures of society. The premiere takes place in January at our temporary venue Ku’damm 156.

We are overjoyed that Michael Thalheimer is returning to the Schaubühne with a new production: »Salome« by Einar Schleef after Oscar Wilde. A woman who has been subjected to others’ desires since her childhood falls in love with a man who despises her. Her longing knows no boundaries, even at the price of her own downfall. The premiere takes place in February.

»The Miser« is the first Molière comedy directed by Thomas Ostermeier. Lars Eidinger plays the lead in a play that tells the story of a generational conflict: Harpagon the miser has a keen eye on his money, but loses sight of his children’s happiness in love. The premiere takes place at the end of March / beginning of April.

In April, British director Katie Mitchell, who has collaborated with us for years, is directing a new version of Maggie Nelson’s book »Bluets« with our ensemble. It is a poetic, philosophical and very personal exploration of an obsession for the colour blue and our own capacity for suffering. Katie Mitchell is also this year’s artist in focus of our Festival International New Drama. FIND will once again bring globally renowned productions as well as new discoveries to Berlin in 2026. This year, we are showing works from Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Norway and more.

We will continue the »Streitraum« discussion series by and with Carolin Emcke in the second half of the season. Titled »Libertarian – Authoritarian – Fascist – Assaults on Democracy«, it is dedicated to asking what might serve to counter antidemocratic movements and regimes.

We would also like to extend a warm welcome to Pia Amofa-Antwi, who is joining our ensemble!
