Season campaign 2025/26 by ZEBU
The Schaubühne’s campaign for this season was designed by ZEBU – a partnership between the illustrators Lynn Lehmann and Dennis Gärnter, who both studied at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee and at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. The pair decided to work together as the visual arts duo ZEBU while they were still students. Their visual language is characterised by powerful compositions and bright colours, and moves effortlessly between representation and abstraction.
ZEBU’s artistic work encompasses illustration, graphic design and painting. Their work takes the form of printed products and large-scale mural art, and can be seen all over the world and in international exhibitions.
For this year’s Schaubühne season campaign, the artists went to see what was happening backstage, and decided to focus on how theatre is produced. »We were impressed by how many people work together on bringing a play to the stage. The different workshops and teams appeared to us like parts of a complex organism. Every area has its own essential function, and only through their interplay does the big picture come into being.«
The season campaign is designed to pay homage to the fields of work that are often invisible to the outside world and yet are indispensable, and to the people that shape them. For this reason, every poster is devoted to a specific area – for example, locksmithery, carpentry, stagehands, costumes, the dressing room, props, make up, prompters, sound, video, lighting, building services – and represents them symbolically. The motifs showcase the diversity of professions and skills that make the business of theatre possible.
You can find the pictures of the campaign in the season booklet of the Schaubühne (to be seen here as PDF) and later as large billboards in the urban area of Berlin.
