Alice Birch

Born in Malvern in 1986, UK. Studied at the University of Exeter. Works as an author for several theatres e. g. the Royal Court, the Almeida theatre, the Paines Pough, the Clean Break, the Young Vic and the National Theatre. She wrote several plays e. g. »We Want You To Watch« (Direction: Caroline Steinbeis, National Theatre with RashDash Theatre, 2015), »Little Light« (Direction: David Mercatali, Orange Tree Theatre, 2015), »Revolt. She said. Revolt again« (Royal Shakespeare Company, 2014/ Soho Theatre Rep New York, 2016), »Little on the inside« (Direction: Lucy Morrison, Clean Break and the Almeida Theatre, 2013), »Salt« (at the Comédie de Valence, 2013), »Many Moons« (Direction: Derek Bond, Theatre 503, 2011). Writer of the film »Lady Macbeth« (Direction: William Oldroyd, 2014) for BBC/ BFI and Creative England and »Flying the Nest« for BBC Radio 4.
She was the winner of the Arts Foundation Award for Playwriting 2014 and was awarded the George Devine Award the same year.
