Axel Wandtke

Member of the Schaubühne ensemble since the 2017/18 season. Born in Dresden. Studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. Member of the ensembles at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Deutsches Theater Berlin and Volksbühne Berlin. Close collaborations with Frank Castorf and Herbert Fritsch, as well as with Thomas Langhoff, Jürgen Gosch and Dimiter Gotscheff. Other engagements include at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Staatsoper Berlin and Berliner Ensemble. Directed his own productions, including with the Volksbühne’s P14 youth theatre. University lecturer in acting. Numerous appearances in film, radio and television productions including in »Hotel Lux« (2011, directed by Leander Haußmann), »Frantz« (2016, directed by François Ozon) and »Never Look Away« (2018, directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck).
