Victoria Behr
Born in Koblenz in 1979. Studied costume design at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Assistant costume designer at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Opernhaus Zürich and at the Salzburger Festspiele. Since 2008 freelance costume designer in close collaboration with Herbert Fritsch, among others at the Theater Oberhausen, Centraltheater Leipzig, Theater Bremen, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Schauspiel Köln, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Residenztheater München, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Burgtheater Wien, Opernhaus Zürich, Komische Oper Berlin and the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. For Herbert Fritsch’s theatre productions she was awarded Costume Designer of the Year by the magazine Theater heute: first in 2011 for »Nora« by Henrik Ibsen (Theater Oberhausen, 2010), 2012 for »The Spanish Fly« by Franz Arnold and Ernst Bach (Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, 2011), 2014 for »Ohne Titel Nr. 1 – Eine Oper von Herbert Fritsch« (Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, 2014) and in 2015 for »der die mann« after Konrad Bayer (Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, 2015). In 2013 she received the award as Costume Designer of the Year by the magazine Opernwelt for »Frau Luna« by Paul Lincke (Direction: Herbert Fritsch, Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, 2013) and for »Three Sisters« by Peter Eötvös (Direction: Herbert Fritsch, Opernhaus Zürich, 2013). Costume design for Australian Director Benedict Andrews at the Young Vic Theatre in London, at the Royal Danish Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, Dutch National Opera and at the English National Opera. In cooperation with director Antú Romero Nunes productions at the Burgtheater Wien and the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. She worked with directors such as Jan Bosse (Bayerische Staatsoper München), Peter Carp, Matthias Hartmann (Opernhaus Zürich, Burgtheater Wien and Salzburger Festspiele), Marcus Lobbes (Theater Freiburg), Stefan Pucher (Deutsches Theater Berlin) und Barrie Kosky (Komische Oper Berlin) and with director Niklaus Helbling at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, Staatstheater Oldenburg, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and the Burgtheater Wien.
