Alexander Zeldin

Writer and director for theatre and film. Developed projects in Russia, South Korea and the Middle East as well as at the Naples Festival. Between 2011 and 2014, he taught at East 15 Acting School of the University of Essex. At this time, he also worked as an assistant director to Peter Brook and Marie-Helene Estienne. His critically acclaimed play »Beyond Caring« about temporary workers meeting on a night shift in a meat factory had its world premiere at the Yard Theatre in Hackney in 2014. It toured the UK and was re-developed for the US and produced by the Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago in 2017. In 2015 he was the recipient of the Quercus Trust Award and was appointed Associate Director at Birmingham Repertory Theatre. His next play »LOVE« opened at the National Theatre in London in 2016, before transferring to Birmingham Repertory Theatre. A European tour took place in 2018 and »LOVE« was also made into a film by the BBC and Cuba Pictures. The stage production was also shown at the FIND Festival 2021. In 2017, Alexander Zeldin was named Artist in Residence at the National Theatre London (NTL) and later became Associate Director. His most recent play »Faith, Hope and Charity« had it’s premiere at the NTL in 2019. Alexander Zeldin is recipient of the Arts Foundation twenty-fifth anniversary Fellowship for Literature and an Associate Artist of the Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe.
