Ann Poppel
Studied Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. From 1974 to 78 collaboration on costume with Werner Herzog for the films »The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser« (1974), »Heart of Glass« (1976), »Nosferatu the Vampyre« (1979) and »Woyzeck« (1979). Regular collaboration with Herbert Achternbusch as a costume designer and decorator since 1980. Long-term work as a costume designer at the Munich Kammerspiele with Dieter Dorn as the theatre manager, amongst others with Franz Xaver Kroetz, Hans-Joachim Ruckhäberle, Jens Daniel Herzog and Christian Stückl. Other assignments at Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Schauspiel Stuttgart and Burgtheater Wien. Commissions for opera, for example for »Cosí fan tutte« (1999) at the opera house in Bonn and »Tristan and Isolde« with Alfred Kirchner at Het Muziektheater Amsterdam in 2000. 2000 – 09 Lectureship for Costume Design at the University for Applied Arts in Vienna. Visiting Professor for Costume and Stage Design at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee. She has worked together with Thomas Ostermeier for the production of »Der starke Stamm« by Marieluise Fleißer at Münchner Kammerspiele in the year 2001.
