Anne-Cécile Vandalem

The director, writer and actor was born in Liège (Belgium) and trained at the city’s Royal Conservatory. In 2008, she founded Das Fräulein theatre company. From 2008 to 2013, she created a trilogy on the subject of the home as a place of confinement and isolation which was invited to the Kunstenfestival in Brussels. She has produced work for the Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, the Théâtre de Namur, the Théâtre de Liège and the Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles, among others. In 2016, her play »Tristesses« was the first part of a trilogy about the failure of western civilization. It was followed in 2018 by the second part, »Arctique«, and, in 2021, by the third and final part, »Kingdom«. The three productions were all invited to the Festival d’Avignon. In addition to her theatre work, she has also created video and sound installations as well as performance projects in public spaces.
