Clara Weyde
Born in 1984. She first studied Communication and Political Science as well as Political Communication in Munich and Berlin and became involved in development cooperation projects in Guatemala, India, China, and Germany. In 2009, she worked as an assistant director at Theater Bremen for two years. Afterwards, she studied directing at the Hamburg Theatre Academy until 2015. She has worked at the Staatstheater Hannover, the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Schauspielhaus Graz, the Junges Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Theater Bonn and Kampnagel, among others. Among her works are many adaptations she has created from well-known material such as Mary Shelley's »Frankenstein«, Alfred Jarry's »King Ubu« or E.T.A. Hoffmann's »The Sandman«, but also numerous world premieres and first performances such as Daniel Kehlmann's novel »F«, Jens Rehn's »Nothing in Sight«, »Supergutman« by Lukas Linder or »Ruhig Blut« by Eleonore Khuen-Belasi.
Her works have received several awards, including the Rolf-Mares-Prize in the category »Outstanding Production« and the Berganus-Prize of the Friends of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg; they have been seen at various festivals, including the Autorentheatertage at the Deutsches Theater, Hart am Wind, the Kaltstart Theatre Festival or 100° Berlin.
From the 2022/23 season, she will take over the theatre directorate at Theater Magdeburg together with Clemens Leander and Bastian Lomsché.
