Céline Demars

Born in 1986 in France. Studied set design in Paris and architecture in Bordeaux. Worked as set design assistant at the Bühnen Köln from 2010 to 2013, where she collaborated, among others, with Johannes Schütz (»Phaedra«, 2011), Rimini Protokoll (»100% Köln«, 2011), Olivier Py (»La Forza del destino«, 2013), Katie Mitchell (»Night train«, 2012) and La Fura del Baus (»Parsifal«, 2013). Set design assistant at the Schaubühne from 2013 to 2015 for productions by Michael Thalheimer (»Tartuffe«, 2013), Marius von Mayenburg (»Plastic«, 2015) and Thomas Ostermeier (»The Marriage of Maria Braun, 2014, »Richard III«, 2015). First own works as set designer also at the Schaubühne: for the Salon series »Wengenroths Autorenklub« by Patrick Wengenroth as well as for the FIND workshop production »Dieses Grab ist mir zu klein« by Biljana Srbljanović (Direction: Mina Salehpour, 2014). Further set designs for Igor Strawinsky’s opera »The Nightingale« at the Kinderoper Köln (Direction: Beka Savić, 2015), »Demons« by Lars Norén at the Théâtre de Belleville in Paris (Direction: Lorraine de Sagazan, 2015), »Das Tierreich« by Nolte/Decar at the Grips Theater Berlin (Direction: Philipp Harpain, 2015), as well as for »LOVE HURTS IN TINDER TIMES« by Patrick Wengenroth and ensemble (Direction: Patrick Wengenroth, 2017) and »The Good Person of Szechwan« by Bertolt Brecht (Direction: Peter Kleinert, 2017), both at the Schaubühne. Set and costume design for »Così fan tutte« by W. A. Mozart (Direction: Beka Savić, 2018) at the Kammeroper Munich and »The Idiot« based on the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky (Direction: Beka Savić, 2019) at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
