Martín Valdés-Stauber
Born in 1991 in Kaufbeuren, he has worked as a dramaturg at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz since 2023, where he regularly collaborates with Yael Ronen, among others. Their production »Bucket List« was invited to the Theatertreffen in 2024. From 2017 to 2023, he was a dramaturg and member of the artistic leadership team at the Münchner Kammerspiele, named Theatre of the Year in 2019 and 2020. During this time, he worked with Rabih Mroué, Philipe Quesne, Rimini Protokoll (Stefan Kaegi), and Milo Rau. He previously studied sociology and economics in Munich, Friedrichshafen, Berkeley, and Cambridge. Since returning to Germany, he has taught at several universities.
Martín Valdés-Stauber initiates and curates art projects and theatre festivals. He maintains close working relationships with choreographer Marlene Monteiro Freitas, cabaret artist Maxi Schafroth, and the Munich Jewish Chamber Orchestra (JCOM). His production »TIME BUSTERS« received an invitation to the Theatertreffen der Jugend in 2024. His collaboration with Marco Layera and Elisa Leroy, »Oasis de la impunidad«, was included in the New York Times annual selection in 2022. In 2021, he received the Marie Zimmermann Fellowship for Dramaturgy.
Since 2018, he has been researching the biographies of staff members of the Münchner Kammerspiele who were persecuted under the Nazi regime in the long-term project SCHICKSALE. As a result of this work, he founded the international artistic research network »Erinnerung als Arbeit an der Gegenwart«.
