Milo Rau
Milo Rau (*1977, Bern) studied sociology, German and Romance studies in Zurich, Berlin and Paris under Pierre Bourdieu and Tzvetan Todorov, among others. Since 2002 he has created more than 50 plays, films, books and actions which have been shown at all the major international festivals, including the Theatertreffen Berlin, Festival d'Avignon, Biennale Teatro di Venezia, Wiener Festwochen and Kunstenfestival Brussels, and have toured over 30 countries worldwide. In 2007 he founded the »International Institute of Political Murder (IIPM)«. Most recently, Rau was honoured with the Saarbrücken Poetics Lectureship for Drama 2017 and the ITI Prize for World Theatre Day 2016. After theatre artists such as Frank Castorf, Pina Bausch, George Tabori, Heiner Goebbels and Christoph Marthaler, Rau is the youngest recipient of the renowned theatre prize to date. »Five Easy Pieces« was the first non-national production to be awarded the Special Prize of the Belgian Theatre Critics' Jury in 2016 and has been invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 2017. Since the 2018/19 season he is artistic director of the NTGent.
