Nehle Balkhausen

Born in 1978 in Cologne. She studied stage and costume design at the Weißensee Academy of Art in Berlin and at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. After working as an assistant at the Maxim Gorki Theatre and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, she became a stage designer there. Since 2008, she has worked as a freelance stage and costume designer, including at the Berliner Ensemble, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Schauspiel Leipzig, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Schauspiel Köln, the Salzburg Festival, and the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. Since 2022, she has been teaching stage and costume design at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
