Ruth Rosenfeld

Ruth Rosenfeld

Born in Los Angeles and grew up in New York and Tel Aviv. Has been a member of the Schaubühne ensemble since the 2017/18 season. She initially studied the bass guitar and subsequently studied singing at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv and at the »Hanns Eisler« School of Music in Berlin. She became a member of the ensemble of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, where she appeared in several productions under the direction of Frank Castorf, among others in »Meistersinger« after Richard Wagner and Ernst Toller (2006), »He Who Says Yes/He Who Says No« by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill (2007), »The Soldiers« by Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz (2010) and »The Baden-Baden Lesson on Consent« by Bertolt Brecht and Paul Hindemith (2010). Guest engagements at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Manchester Opera House, Theater Basel, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Prague Opera House, Vlaamse Opera Gent, Lucerne Festival, Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen, Théâtre National in Brussels and the Théâtre de l’Odéon in Paris. She worked with directors such as David Marton, Cordula Däuper, Dimiter Gotscheff and Jette Steckel and collaborated with the artists Douglas Gordon, Anri Sala and Anna Gaskell among others. Close collaboration with Herbert Fritsch at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, among others in »Frau Luna« by Paul Lincke (2013), »der die mann« after Konrad Bayer (2015) and »Pfusch« by Herbert Fritsch (2016), »Der schwarze Hecht« after Emil Sautter (2014) at the Schauspielhaus Zürich and »King Arthur« by Henry Purcell (2016) at the Opernhaus Zürich.
Additionally to her part in »Wer hat Angst vor Hugo Wolf?« (Schauspielhaus Zürich, 2016) she was responsible for the musical direction and the adaption together with Carsten Meyer.
