Taiko Saito

Born in Sapporo. Studies marimba and percussion at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo with Prof. Keiko Abe and with Prof. David Friedman at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Appearances as a soloist u. a. with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra as well as at various festivals. Member of kokotob, Berlin Mallet Group, Divan of Continents, Potsa Lotsa XL and Nurit Starks Ensemble. With their projects release of several CDs at labels like Pirouet and cleanfeed. Awarded with numerous prices, u. a. first prize in the Concours International de Vibraphone Claude Giot 2005, third prize in the World Marimba Competition 1996 and the Studio Prize of the Berlin Senate. Jury member for the Concours International de Vibraphone. She teaches in master classes and workshops in Japan, Europe, Colombia and the USA.
