Yousef Sweid

Yousef Sweid is actor, author and puppeteer. He is a Palestinian Israeli, was born in Haifa, and lives in Berlin since 2013. In Tel Aviv, he worked with Arab and Jewish communities and one of the founders of the Arab-Hebrew Theatre in Jaffa. He was part of the Habima National Theatre Ensemble and the Cameri Theatre Ensemble in Tel Aviv and soon began working in film and television.
He is the (co-)author of numerous award-winning plays that deal with intercultural understanding and have been performed worldwide. He has worked in Berlin at Schaubühne and Maxim Gorki Theatre, at the Burgtheater in Vienna and the Globe Theatre and Royal Court Theatre in London. He continues to appear in films and series such as “Unorthodox”, »Totenfrau«, »Munich Games« , »The Bubble«, »Game of Thrones«, »Homeland« and more. In 2025 he got the best actor award for his roll in »Night Therapy«. His One man show , »Between the River and the Sea« had a worldwide success. One of his greatest passions is puppetry. He is mostly known for his Arab Puppet »Mahboob«: a Palestinian puppet in the Israeli »Sesame Street«.
