Simone and Erik consider themselves progressive. She is a successful engineer at an innovative company, he is a translator and stay-at-home dad. They are educated urbanites and will not let their relationship succumb to stereotypical roles. One day, she returns exhausted from a business trip and hands him a present. Erik refuses to accept it. Simone reproaches him for destroying every surprise. It is an inconsequential irritation that grows into a fight about the price of their shared happiness. What if she had to wait for him at home – and he went on business trips? What if employment and family work were divided up the other way around? Would it matter?
