Streitraum: »International cultural exchange – in times of austerity and political challenges«
Carolin Emcke in conversation with Gesche Joost and Milo Rau
Stage A
Anyone who thinks and works internationally has been shaken by the wars and crises over the last few years. Financial pressures and political disputes are also increasing and overlap with each other. Networks and connections that have been built up over decades all across the world are crumbling. What kind of discourse and understanding can there be, must there be? How can controversial positions be represented and brought into conversation with each other when politics is placing tighter and tighter restrictions around art? How much is international dialogue threatened by neglect or silencing in cultural policy?
CAROLIN EMCKE, publicist and author, has been moderating and curating the monthly discussion series at the Schaubühne since 2004. Scientists, writers, politicians, artists and other public figures are invited to join the discussion.
GESCHE JOOST (*1974 in Kiel) has been president of the Goethe-Institut since November 2024. She is Professor of Design Research at Universität der Künste Berlin and works transdisciplinarily at the intersection of the arts and sciences.
MILO RAU (*1977 in Bern), director and author is artistic director of the Wiener Festwochen | Freie Republik Wien. His productions have toured over 30 countries. Milo Rau was artistic director of NTGent (Belgium) from 2018 to 2023.
