Streitraum 2026/27 aims to bring hope back into public discourse. To do so, we first need to clarify the concept philosophically: What does hope mean? What role does hope play in religious or secular visions of society? How can alternative narratives challenge the dominant apocalyptic ones?
We need to practise imagining what might be possible to hope for. So how can we reformulate democratic utopias? Which social needs and cultural longings need to be addressed, and what might a just, solidaristic, sustainable society look like?
How do we want to live? How do we want to grow old? What visions are there for different forms of community, different forms of ownership, mobility, and relationships?
